Lee Marshall grew up in New York City where she lives and works today. She received her I.B. diploma from United Nations International School and her B.A. in Anthropology from Brown University. After college she moved out West to climb rocks and teach for the National Outdoor Leadership School. In 1994 she began twelve summers of drawing with Nicolas Carone and Bruce Gagnier at the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy. She continued her studies with Mr. Gagnier at the New York Studio School and in 2008 was awarded the Paton prize for watercolor from the National Academy of Design. In 2016 she received the Mercedes Matter Alumni Award from the New York Studio School. Lee is represented by John Davis Gallery in Hudson, NY where she will have her fourth one-person exhibition in 2019.
